I thought I was booking a room at a hotel, but it was a guesthouse.
A guesthouse (simple lodging) is different from a hotel and may not offer the services you would expect at an ordinary hotel, but you cannot cancel simply for the reason that it was not what you had imagined. Check the booking site, and note specifically what about the facilities was actually different from what was listed when you made the reservation, and communicate that to the manager and ask them to do something about it. If you made the reservation through an online booking site, you should also make a claim to that site. It would be a good idea to either print out or take screenshots of the screen shown on the reservation site.
