Watch out for someone who speaks English or a foreign language who offers to take you to a bar or establishment--they may charge you an unfairly high amount of money. These incidents do occur. If you get too drunk and are unable to think clearly, a bar owner or staff might get you to take out your credit card and they will put a huge charge on it. Or, claiming "it didn't work," they may place charges on your card several times without your agreement. This also happens. In some cases, tourists have been scammed for over a million yen. Sometimes you relax in a foreign country when a person speaks your language and then you wind up trusting that person. But that is how they trick you. Don't be fooled into thinking Japan is a completely safe place. Don't allow a stranger on the street in a downtown area to take you to a place you don't know.
